Lake Charles to Mermentua River

We spent a few days in Lake Charles and even did a little gambling. The casinos were in walking distance or a short dinghy ride thanks to friends Teri and Jim. By the way Teri became a thousandaire the night we were at La Berge. Congrats Teri. We are at present in Morgan City waiting on weather but here are few pics along the way.

One of the several locks you have to go throughon the ICW.

A beautiful oxbow lake that we anchored in on the Mermentau river. I had to go in the water to check the prop after we ran aground earlier. Very cold but the prop was fine.

Thank you all and Carolyn and I miss all of you.
PS. We will be leaving Lake Charles and heading for Intercoastal City and Morgan City. I know Steve and Pam are right behind us so we expect you guys to catch up.

Lots of platforms and wellheads in the Gulf

We are now in Lake Charles. We had little to no wind coming out of Palacios and had to motor to Freeport. The next day was the same and we went down the ICW to Galveston. From there we tried outside again and only managed to get to Cameron, La. So we went up the river to Lake Charles. It looks like we will be doing the ditch from here to Miss.

Hi everyone, sorry for the long time between blogs. Carolyn and I have been working feverishly to finish preparations on Moondance in order to leave for Florida around mid Nov. I'm having trouble downloading pictures but did manage to get three .Moondance in her slip and ready to go.

The Palacios Yacht Club

Serindipity Marina in Palacios, Tx.

Carolyn and I want to thank everyone for their support and good wishes for our trip. Our trip will bring us to the Florida Keys and then to the Bahamas and south. We are presently waiting for a weather window which should open up tomorrow behind this large front that is passing over now. We are going to sail directly to the keys from here provided the weather is good. Of course we have a plan B which is south to Mexico or plan C which is north to somewhere along the Gulf coast. We will update the site when we get to the keys.
